But ‘action’ doesn’t immediately mean saving the world or bringing about system change. It also means cultivating an eye and aptitude for the smallest impact and trusting that they will add up.
The impacts of climate change and rapid acceleration of biodiversity loss are all around us. The understory club helps you navigate this new reality and supports you on taking action right where you live.
Flower by flower, one letter at a time, we will explore, learn and reflect on the simple actions we can take to contribute small patches of habitat for our pollinators. Patch by patch, we’ll help not only them but ourselves to cultivate climate resilience.
The mail club
The understory club is a guided journey through the seasons, your relationship with nature and enables you to take small, local action. You don’t need a garden or balcony to support pollinators where you live, you just need the mindset and tools to start with what is already there.
As an understory club member, you will receive bi-monthly box supporting one specific pollinator. Every box contains a curated letter, a postcard with original art inspired by the edition’s pollinator, as well as ingredients or tools to support you in your own jump to local action.

About
I am Margaux, psychologist, sustainability scientist and mother of a toddler. Eco-anxiety has been part of my life since before I had a word for it. Now as a mother, I am increasingly starting to wonder what life for my daughter will be like if the birds stop singing in spring and the butterflies don’t return in summer.
The understory club is a project that is supposed to foster hope, mental resilience and an easy way to move into local action. I’ve always been inquisitive and philosophical about what nature adds to our lives and this mail club aims to support you on that same quest.
After spending most of my professional life in the sustainability space, I’ve come to realise that we are actually like pollinators ourselves. Each and everyone of us contributes what we can and we’re allowed to start trusting that that is enough.
Let’s get our magnifying glasses, take a look at what’s crawling and flying around us and how we can become part of that nature again.

The mail club box content can be enjoyed without your own balcony or garden. There are plenty of opportunities to help pollinators beyond your own space.

Bee hotels mostly attract solitary bees, which are gentle, don't defend a hive, and very rarely sting. They're safe to keep near doors, balconies and play areas.
